A true friend
For as long as I can remember, I have had a friend through a friend of my mother’s. My mom and her mom met through a downhill skiing group for people with disabilities. I am disabled, and her mother is disabled too.
We lived about 45 minutes away from each other so we didn’t really grow up together, but we spent as much time together as possible. Often we went on ski trips together with our mothers. We even went to summer camps together. This was often a challenge, because she was able-bodied and I was not. A lot of times there was a series of activities I just couldn’t keep up with, or sometimes wasn’t able to join in at all.
One year, this friend of mine and I signed up to go to Girl Scout camp together. We quickly got tired of the camp because we had got to play with kids much younger than us. I will never forget what this friend did for me through the whole 2 weeks. Not only did she stick with me, she also did everything she could to make it more interesting. She didn’t let the situation get me down.
When my friend worked on her master’s, she needed a friend to write a short paper on her integrity. She asked me, and this is the story I set down in that paper. When she read it, she had no idea how much her efforts had meant to me then, or how much they still mean in my life. To me, that is exactly what a true friend is.1. for as long as I can remember 自我記事起2. I will never forget what this friend did for me through the whole 2 weeks. 我永遠不會忘記這位朋友兩周來為我所做的一切。3.
